Our Story

Noolyaappu (நூல்யாப்பு) , a Tamil originated word which is a combination of "Nool" (Thread) and "Yappu"(Binding/Tieing).

At Noolyaappu, the sarees are curated from various regions of India, each with its own rich heritage and weaving techniques. The collection showcases a wide array of sarees, including traditional silk sarees, delicate chiffon sarees, graceful georgette sarees, and many more. We believe in embracing diversity and offer sarees in a variety of colors, prints, and embellishments to cater to different preferences and personal styles.

The inspiration for this saree website stems from my personal experiences and upbringing. Growing up in a family that cherished and respected traditional Indian textiles, I witnessed the transformative power of a well-crafted saree. Each saree held a story, a connection to our heritage, and a reflection of the wearer's individuality.

To me sarees not just as garments but also as a cultural symbol that connects generations and preserves traditions. By choosing our sarees, you contribute to the livelihoods of these talented craftsmen and women, helping to sustain their art for future generations.

OWNER/SEAMSTRESS

Alarmathi Sankaran

Born a Tamilian and growing up in various parts of southern states, a deep love and admiration for sarees inculcated in me seeing my mother and grandmother drape that 6 yards of beauty in pure style and elegance.

I wore my first saree at the age of 13 and starting draping in my late teens during my college days. Sewing came along much later when I was looking for hobbies while keeping myself wrapped up in corporate life.

Never having dreamt of becoming a Entrepreneur or a seamstress I dared to push myself into trying all things new only after motherhood. Thanks to Motherhood and change of countries I had to leave behind my corporate job as a Sr. ETL Developer.

This gave me time to learn and educate myself into the world of sewing. What started as a hobby soon turned into a lifelong passion, driving me to learn and master various sewing techniques and garment construction methods. Over time, I gained invaluable experience, refining my skills and expanding my knowledge to provide top-notch services to my clients.

Now years later here I am back into corporate life while being a mom of 2 adorable boys (8 and 5) and still taking immense pride as a solo entrepreneur offering high-quality custom sewing and alteration services to cater to your unique needs. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, I strive to provide you with garments that fit perfectly and reflect your personal style.
